VENTURA HARBOR, my 30"x48" painting above, is hanging in a beautiful beach house in Oxnard and I was thrilled to learn it won 2nd place in a recent online CAGO art show. I also recently had a 44 piece solo show, entitled CONTEMPORARY COASTAL in Ventura CA and now I'm focusing on completing pieces for the Ventura County Fair and the 2nd annual Pepperdine Alumni Art Showcase in Malibu this October. I also have many seascapes and local paintings hanging in the adorable Harbor Village Gallery Too all summer and possibly through December. Gallery sitting there once a week is fantastic because I get so inspired watching the day's catch come in every afternoon. Meeting new collectors of my work is a gift and I recently met a young mom visiting from Oregon with her two daughters. Watching her share and appreciate art with them was special and can set the tone for a lifetime of creativity and joy in young people. They were excited to take home my TROLLEY painting below, as they'd been riding one in Ventura all morning. Another recent painting below sold entitled GULLIBLE. I knew I'd paint him with a palette knife as soon as I saw him standing on a nearby dock. At the moment I'm working on several more local fishing vessels like SQUID SHIPS (below right) but I'm also balancing time at my easel with plenty of refreshing walks along the shore and quick sketches sitting on a bench near a local shipyard. I took a recent drawing/perspective class in Carpinteria with Colin Gray and it's always rejuvenating to sharpen skills alongside other passionate artists. So, off to practice!
